What is where does coolant go?

Coolant flows through the engine block and cylinder head, absorbing heat produced by the combustion process. It then travels to the radiator, where the heat is dissipated into the atmosphere. A water%20pump circulates the coolant throughout the system. A thermostat regulates the coolant temperature and flow. In some vehicles, coolant may also flow through the heater%20core to provide heat to the cabin. An expansion%20tank (also called coolant reservoir) provides a space for coolant to expand as it heats up, and also allows you to check the coolant level. Coolant hoses connect these components, forming a closed loop.
